Brooklands to Le Mans: Le Grand Depart

Yesterday saw the 1924 Le Mans winning Bentley arrive at Brooklands Circuit to be waved off on her journey to Le Mans, beginning her centenary celebrations.

Against the historic backdrop of Brooklands, we were joined by John Duff's Grandson, friends and family connected to the car, the Automobile Club de L'Ouest (ACO), P1 Fuels and a selection of media. Welcomed by Allan Winn, Vice President of Brooklands Museum, guests accompanied the car around the circuit recreating photographs taken 100 years ago on John Duff's departure for Le Mans.

Lunch in the clubhouse followed with the car sitting proudly in the paddock outside. Whilst many stories and memories were shared over the table, and indeed throughout the day, it was the ACO that taught everyone a little-known fact about John Duff - pronounced in French John Duff's name is 'jaune d'œuf', which directly translates as the yolk of an egg!

We would like to thank all of our guests, the Brooklands Museum team, and P1 Fuels for a fantastic day!
