THE FIRST BENTLEY MOTORS WORKS TEAM CAR RETURNED 100 YEARS LATER...

Le Mans Classic took place earlier this month on the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. The event celebrated the legacy of racing, featuring more than 800 legendary cars from the 1920s through the early 2000s, all competing in grids organised by era.

MH7580, the very first Bentley Motors Works Le Mans team car, made its official return to Le Mans on the 100th anniversary of its racing debut, driven by William Medcalf. This legendary 1925 3-Litre Bentley first competed at Le Mans on 20 June 1925, and exactly 100 years later, it took to the track once more in celebration of its remarkable legacy. It was a true privilege for William to drive such an iconic car back to where its racing story began, and to be part of such a historic moment in motorsport. Entered in Plateau 1, a grid dedicated to the early years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1923–1939), the car joined a striking lineup of vintage pre-war cars that laid the foundations of racing and brought history to life.

This 12th edition of Le Mans Classic delivered excitement both on and off the track. Spectators were treated not only to racing but also to live performances from Kavinsky and Cerrone, plus the presence of 220 international car clubs, showcasing an impressive 9,200 collector vehicles.

We were also proud to have one of our apprentices on-site as technical support, having driven 800 miles from The Works to Le Mans and back. This was a great opportunity for be part of Bentley’s racing heritage and reflects our commitment to providing hands-on experience while supporting the development of the next generation.

As the chequered flag fell on the finish of Le Mans Classic 2025, it was clear that the spirit of vintage motorsport racing is as alive today as it was a century ago. The return of MH7580 to the very circuit where it made history 100 years prior, was a powerful reminder of motorsport’s enduring legacy. With an exceptional turnout and a stunning array of historic cars, Le Mans Classic once again proved itself as one of the most cherished events in the world of motorsport.

Thank you to the team at Le Mans Classic and Peter Auto for another successful event.
