SuperSports Victory on Islands of Japan Rally
SuperSports marks its centenary with a triumphant victory
After 28 days and more than 7,000km across Japan’s islands, Graham and Marina Goodwin claimed their first Marathon victory in “Pyman”, their 1925 Bentley SuperSports, rebuilt and prepared by the team here at Vintage Bentley. This remarkable SuperSports demonstrated exceptional endurance and performance across Hokkaido’s rugged roads and the misty climbs of the Japanese Alps, from start to finish. The 1925 SuperSports experienced 54 regularities, 17 speed tests and one navigational test through the winding mountain passes of Honshu, the serene temples of Shikoku and the volcanic landscapes of Kyushu. It concluded a mix of challenging regularities, scenic routes, and cultural stops creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and achievement, culminating in a finish that celebrated the spirit of rallying —a fantastic win for the Bentley SuperSports. Graham's first words after winning this incredible endurance rally in his SuperSports was "this is a 100-year-old car, and we love it. He's called Pyman and he's been brilliant. We've had a fantastic time, and this has been a great rally."

Green Label 100 mph SuperSports models - of which only 18 were made - were fitted with short chassis and a lightweight body which was also a key factor in these sought after models reaching the "ton". The radiator was distinctively tapered at the base. The high state of tune of these models with the compression ratio being 6.3:1, together in some cases with fitment of a racing heavy duty crankshaft, was reflected in the standard 5-year warranty being adjusted to 12 months.
