London to Brighton Veteran Car Run

Last Sunday, William and Kate took part in the 2025 RM Sotheby’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in their 1904 Cadillac, the world’s longest-running motoring event. As dawn broke over autumnal London, 384 veteran cars and their crews gathered in Hyde Park to commemorate the famous Emancipation Run of 1896.

Despite early rain, spirits were high as the sunrise signalled the start of this much-loved annual tradition. With Duncan Wiltshire, Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club, signalling the start, the convoy of pre-1905 cars rolled out from Hyde Park, passing London’s famous landmarks on its way to the Brighton seafront. More than 100 marques from around the world took part, from De Dion Bouton and Wolseley to early Fords and Renaults, celebrating 129 years of motoring freedom. By the end of the day, 340 finishers proudly crossed the line at Madeira Drive.

"London to Brighton has become an annual Medcalf tradition that we all look forward to. Rain or shine, you’ll find us in Hyde Park at 6 a.m.- and this year it was definitely more rain than shine! Regardless, the atmosphere is electric: everyone buzzing with excitement for the adventure ahead. We of course, were ready to roll. It really is an incredible spectacle seeing almost 500 veteran cars weaving through the streets of London and despite the rain there were spectators all throughout the run all day cheering us on. There truly is no other spectacle like it, the sense of achievement not just for me as the driver but the memories we are making with our family is something William and I cherish, a special day for us all." - Kate Medcalf, Driver.

Thank you to the Royal Automobile Club for once again organising such a wonderful and historic event, we are looking forward to next year.
